For anyone who reads this blog on the regular (hahahahahaha) you are not shocked I got behind. I think I last left you with my slightly grumpy opinion of Grazie. We went to Zen on Thursday and we had an absolute blast. For anyone expecting Benihana levels of amazeballs, I need you to readjust your thinking. It's a beach resort. It was our first night of what I considered good attentive service. The food was very good (slightly over cooked more on this when I get to Saturday's post). The natives tried miso soup, native 2 ate it all and I had to fight for a bite, native 2 was not a fan. They both tried sushi, native 2 liked all 3, I believe native 1 liked at least 2 types if I remember correctly. Native 2 managed to catch a bit of egg thrown to his mouth, it was fun. That fried coconut icecream was probably my favorite thing so far. We were trying to make the Circus show. We headed to the theater, found seats and then found they moved it outside. We found a spot outside to stand. Native 2 was not having the standing but he was entertained so we tried to stick it out until it started sprinkling so we headed back to crash.
The next day we were brave and let the natives sleep in the room while Hunter and I headed to the gym (no running on Fridays). There were strict comments about if you leave this cave yada yada yada but they had entertainment stone tablets and breakfast already in the room so they were happy as clams. The gym is well appointed, it gets a little busy but there is a decent set of dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells and some machines. For the cardio inclined I saw a bike or two and 3 or 4 treadmills. I wish I had packed my bands but I made due. For the rest of the day let the kiddos pick the pool area and bounced between a few pools. Well other than the hour of thermal-hydro therapy Hunter I and did at the spa...that was down right delightful. We did a foam party, it was fun but a bit scary not being able to see the kids under the foam. Native 1 didn't care for the mouth full of soap he got trying to get above the bubbles. Drunk college Gatherer probably would have loved it, parent Gatherer was about to flip out. The natives said they could take it or leave it so we skipped the one on Saturday. I saw it in action and it seemed crazier and I was glad they didn't want to do it.
Dinner on Friday was at Bella Cucina. After our previous experience at what was supposed to be the "better" Italian joint I was not looking forward to it. The second we walked up I knew I was wrong. Our service was attentive and friendly. I do get a crack out of the servers calling the Natives "Bebes". So cute, Native 2 scowls at me every time. The antipasta bar had a great selection of meats and marinated vegetables I was pleased with it. We all enjoyed our dinners. Native 1 had a penne dish, Hunter and Native 2 had lasagna (pretty sure it was the same from Grazie, they liked it I didn't care for the seasoning in the meat). I had risotto which I wish I had more room for but I also knew I had 9miles to run in the morning and I've already struggled with runner's gut so I didn't want to mess with a good thing. The show option wasn't anything the Native wanted to see so we headed back for some relaxing time and hit tucked in for the night.
All in all it was a good day.
